Dr. Nirmal G. Choraria, MBBS, DCH, MD (PED.) is a well-known personality in the city of Surat. A man of high integrity and dedication to his profession, Dr. Choraria has not only excelled in his profession, but has also been active in the service of the society. |

After completing his MD in 1981 from South Gujarat University, Dr. Choraria joined Mahavir Hospital as full time Paediatrician and as Incharge of Paediatrics Department in January, 1982. In May 1983, he started his private practice in the name of Nirmal Children's Hospital with 9 beds at Rustampura, Surat. However, he continued to work as Honorary Paediatrician at Mahavir Hospital and as Incharge of Paediatrics Department till 1994. It was with his efforts that Mahavir Hospital of Surat started the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in 1989, which was not only the first of its kind in Surat, but also whole of Western India. There after in 1989, he started one of the best Neonatology Unit of Gujarat at Mahavir Hospital and remained incharge of the same till 1993. |

Having gained experience for more than ten years, Dr. Choraria in July 1992 started a well-equipped hospital at Ring Road Surat. There he established a high-tech and modern PICU of 7 beds which has been rendering top class and hitherto unavailable medical care and services to paediatric patients. He then developed a very sophisticated and well-equipped 21 bedded NICU where critically ill and premature babies are provided the best possible care. The results achieved have been extremely gratifying. This is easily the best NICU in Gujarat and can compare with any other similar facility the country. Till 2001 the hospital served as a tertiary care center for Paediatric patients of the entire South Gujarat region. The hospital, which had established its credentials in Paediatric care, was transformed to a multi speciality general hospital in the year 2001. This hospital now has the services of a team of 10 Paediatricians, a Physician, a General & Laproscopic Surgeon, an Orthopaedic Surgeon, two pathologists, radiologist and six Physiotherapists on a full time basis. In addition it has the services of more than 100 consultants and Super specialists and is fast emerging as a Centre of Quality Care. This hospital has, apart from other things, modern facilities for Joint replacement, Neuro surgery, Vascular, Plastic, Laproscopic and paediatric surgery. In a short span of four years, Nirmal Hospital Pvt. Ltd. has been able to successfully win the confidence of the medical fraternity and the common public of Surat city and South Gujarat. At present the hospital has 100 bed which will be expanded to 150 beds in March-2006.
